Urinary Tract Infections

A urinary tract infection, otherwise known as cystitis, is most commonly caused when bacteria (generally E.coli that is found in the digestive tract) enter the urethra and find their way to the bladder. Whilst UTI’s can affect men also, women are more likely to suffer primarily due to physical anatomy.

Common symptoms include:

  • Burning pain on urination
  • Increased frequency of urination
  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Urine that is dark coloured with strong odour
  • Cloudy urine

Left untreated, they can affect the kidneys, symptoms may include fever, nausea, kidney pain or blood in the urine. Chronic or recurring UTI’s are also a concern and it is important to look at underlying factors which may be causing the recurrence such as lowered immunity, stress, diet, lifestyle & hygiene factors.

If you suspect you have a UTI, the key is to catch it early. Emma uses a range of herbs, probiotics & nutritional supplements to restore healthy bacterial balance, reduce inflammation and boost the immune system.
