Thyroid Dysfunction

Thyroid disease is becoming an increasingly common condition in Australia. Whilst major thyroid disease may be diagnosed using pathology, often a poorly functioning thyroid gland can cause many symptoms but may be difficult to identify.

Thyroid conditions may be caused by immune system dysfunction (such as autoimmunity whereby the cells of the thyroid gland are destroyed by antibodies), vitamin and mineral deficiencies, chronic stress, inflammation, exposure to oxidative stress and environmental toxicity, and even poor digestion and elimination.
